Livable Laneways in Collaboration with the Autumn Shift Festival

The art installation in the laneway this year!
VERY last minute as I have too much on my mind lately and haven't been thinking of markets or jewelry or vintage much at all lately. I'll have a table in the laneway market tomorrow west of Main st between Broadway and 7th ave in Vancouver, 12:00-6:00pm. If you're around, come check it out! We always have a great time at the Liveable Laneway markets. There will be a cook-off and music too!

Pop-Up Shop Last Days!

Saturday, March 30 is our last day at 4570 Main street!
I meant to post this earlier but I have not been able to keep up with wedding planning (which um, I think I forgot to post about here?! OOPS. I will try to update you on that sitch soon ;) ), day job work and being at the pop-up shop! I will be there all day on Friday & Saturday and will be having a SALE on Saturday! I will be offering a discount on all my regular priced jewelry, probably 15% off. Make sure to drop by to see me before it's all over and get a deal on some fun jewels for spring & summer! The shell & glass bead necklaces (pictured above) are also great as a wrap bracelet, that's how I wear mine in the summer. And semi-precious stone arrowhead necklaces? Perfect sunny weather wear. Pick up two as funky friendship necklaces!
(If you do not live in or around Vancouver but want to take advantage of the deal, email me with what you're interested in purchasing, we'll work it out)

I am going away for the first two weeks of April but when I am back I will have a lot more free time (yesss) and will be working on new stuff to be filling the online shop, and bringing new pieces to Dream. I CAN'T WAIT! Also can't wait for my vacation though: I'm coming for you, Hawaii!! I've never been and there is no better time for a vacation than now!

As for the pop-up shop space, it will be undergoing a transformation (hello much-needed paint!) and will re-open sometime in April with new vendors! So if Main street is your hood, be sure to pop in again and see what's new.

Main Street Pop-Up Shop!

I am going to be part of a pop-up shop which is opening this week!! Sorry about the short-notice: we didn't have a lot of notice about getting the space, and then I got very sick this last week and am only now re-joining the real world! :)

The shop is in a brick building at 4570 Main street, Vancouver, B.C.  The building may not be the prettiest thing, but it will be filled with so many treasures! It will be open February 15 - March 31st. Our hours will be:
Tues & Wed 11am - 6pm
Thurs 11am - 8pm
Fri 11am - 6pm
Sat 10am - 6pm
Sun 12 - 5pm (closed Mon)
I will be there Thursdays, Fridays & Sundays. There is a Facebook page for the shop as well as an event for the grand opening this Saturday!

What will you find in the shop? Handmade, vintage, fair-trade goods and supplies from:
Clare's Collectables
Daria's Hats

Hope to see you there!!

Warm fuzzies

Photo belongs to Jenny Hine/SAINTS
Thanks to sales of specific items at my winter markets this year we raised $20 to donate to both SAINTS and HomeFinders animal rescues ($20 to each charity). This makes me happy! Here is a blurb about each charity:

"SAINTS is an end-of-life sanctuary for senior and special needs animals that have nowhere else to go. We provide a special place to be loved, cherished, and receive proper medical care for the rest of their days. All animals deserve to have hope for a better tomorrow." Check out their website here.

"HomeFinders strives to house, rehabilitate and rescue abused, abandoned and otherwise homeless animals, before placing them in new, loving homes. HomeFinders has a special interest in animals from small communities in Northern BC, and strives to assist these animals through placement in the lower mainland." You can check them out here.

Thanks to everyone who shopped honeywild this season! These rescues do awesome work and I am grateful to be able to help them out. I plan on putting some items that include donations in the online shop soon, I just need time & good lighting! :)

Happy holidays to you & yours!

Take Me Home

These beauties are all looking for their forever homes. From the top, all-black Noodle is a sweet, affectionate girl who is great with other cats. Exotic-looking black and white Sirayana is a quirky, friendly girl who is good with other cats and cat-savvy dogs. Gorgeous grey tabby Atreyu is sweet and gentle. All cats are spayed/neutered and housetrained. Find more details on their respective Petfinder pages which I've linked to (just click on their name). They are all fostered through HomeFinders Rescue in Vancouver, BC. You can check out HomeFinder on Facebook.

Anthropologie Pet Adoption Event!

Anthopologie, one of my favourite stores, is holding pet adoption & pet supply drives at many of their locations this September! I think this is SO AWESOME, you guys! Not only is it great that people will get to meet some sweeties looking for their forever families and maybe meet someone they'd like to take home, not only will supplies be collected for pets in need, but even bigger than those things, more people will be introduced to rescue pets and realize how great they are! I think it's very cool of Anthro to hold an event like this. To me rescue/adoption is just kind of obvious but lots of people are still stuck in the "get a pet from a pet store or Kijiji" frame of mind, and if that changes for even a few people, that's super! So thank you, Anthopologie, from the bottom of my sucker-for-animals heart. The Vancouver event will be at Anthropologie (2912 Granville st.) on Saturday, September 22nd from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. To find an event near you, check out their page here.

Can't make it to an event but are on the hunt for a new furry friend? Check out Petfinder: most shelters and rescues post their adoptable pets there and you can search by pet type, breed, age...  It's great!

Lately

Life has been so hectic lately I've been away from here longer than planned! Along with friends moving away and work stuff, I've been busy preparing for the Nifty for Fifty sale that happened this past Sunday (pictured above) and my upcoming trip. Oh yeah! I am leaving on Friday for two weeks in Istanbul and Amsterdam! Eeks! So very excited. I got travel books from the library on both places and haven't even looked at them yet - Ben left them in the middle of the stairs tonight in hopes that I might look at them when I tripped, haha. So this is brief as I'm in dire need of sleep (I'm writing this at 10:33pm Tues :) ). The honeywild shop will be closed in a day or two and will re-open upon my return. The tender buttons vintage shop will be populated with some treasures when I get back as well. Until then you can find these beauties at Dream!

Take me home, please!

I'm feeling a little blue tonight, thinking of people & pets that are without a real home or family of their own. I wish I had more rooms/space/less strata rules so I could take more in.

Here are a few furry loves looking for forever homes:

DUKE: Adorable, loveable 3 yr old rotty who is ready to live the good life with his forever family! Loves playing with his toys, walks, visitors. Currently at the Burnaby BCSPCA.

ODIE: Sweet little 3 yr old chihuahua who came from a hoarding situation and needs a slow introduction to real life and how awesome it can be. Currently at the Burnaby BCSPCA.

OREO: Timid 9 yr old shih tzu/poodle. Came from a home where he didn't get as much attention as he deserved & would like a second chance, please. Currently at the Burnaby BCSPCA.

I just got word that I'll have a table at this event on Sunday, December 11th! I'm psyched. I will now be mad busy for the next week as I sold a lot on Thursday evening and have to replenish my stock! Check out the Facebook event here.

I'll also have a table on Saturday December 17th here:

Got Craft?

Spool of Thread will have a fun DIY table again this year!

Got Craft is one of the best craft fairs in Vancouver, in my opinion, and I'm so sad to be missing it this year! I have to work this Sunday and can't get out of it.  Super bummer! These are the things I'd be most psyched about seeing/buying if I could go:

Bake Sale - I bought my mom a box of flower cupcakes last year and they were both beautiful and delicious!

The Beautiful Project - I love her (illustrated) cards and always buy a few. My favourite is the the one that says "You look beautiful today."

Dani Press - More awesome cards! These ones feature awesome photos with meaningful words. My favourite is probably one that says "Never give up on the idea of what your life could look like." Perfection.

Sadie Designs - Sarah is awesome. She makes these necklaces with geodes and puts little figures in them (among other lovely necklaces and earrings). Maybe you have to go and check them out to understand. They're completely unique and full of adventure and whimsy.

Thistle Town Studio - They make lumberjack animal stuffed animals!! Love them!! I first saw them at Collage Collage and wanted one sooo badly.

AND, of course, the swag bag! People line up early in hopes of getting one of these covet-worthy bags of goodies from the vendors! Layer up, grab a hot drink and camp out early if you're brave and if you get one of these babies it will be well worth it, I promise! Got Craft is this Sunday, December 4th from 10:00-5:00 at 2205 Commercial Drive, Vancouver. For more info or the full list of vendors visit their website. And don't forget to buy me a present while you're there!

Adopt-a-Less-Adoptable-Pet Week - The Dogs

Petfinder has designated Sept. 17-25, 2011, as "Adopt-A-Less-Adoptable-Pet Week." You know I'm big into rescue. Less adoptable pets include black dogs and cats, senior animals or those with special health or behavioural considerations, and pit bulls [due to breed misunderstanding and prejudice (in my years of volunteering at shelters and grooming dogs I've been bitten by a shih-tzu, never a pitty)]. Here are a few of my favourite local cuties in need of a good home!

Ruby: staffy/pitty, spayed female, senior; happy, loving, outgoing; Vancouver, BC

Cherry: chihuahua?, tiny, spayed female, senior; sweet & needs lovin & tender care; Mission, BC

Cola: pitty x, spayed female, young; playful, sweet, "woo-woo's" for attention! [my Josie woo-woo's :) ]; Vancouver, BC

Amber: pitty, spayed female, 7 yrs old; wiggly, snuggler, good with other pets; Vancouver, BC

I made a new treasury featuring some of my local faves! Check it out here on Etsy.

Baron the Best!

Ok, so I know I often share adoptable pets that I think are lovely on here, and have gushed about many of them, but SERIOUSLY THIS TIME, I want to take this guy home!!!

He is so gorgeous!! And his description sounds like *exactly* what we want in a big dog. They believe he's a pitty/mastiff cross, around 7 years old and about 70 lbs. He's a volunteer fave, loves people and dogs and is apparently the "resident 'grandpa' to the naughty puppies and just tolerates their antics with endless patience" (sounds like Daddy from the Dog Whisperer, who we love!). Anyhow, the list of his loveliness goes on. He has arthritis in his hips which makes me more of a softy for him. We can't have him where we live now (too crowded for three dogs!!) but have been planning on looking at new places after Ben gets his ticket (for work, as an electrician) which should be this month! If we find a new place and Baron is still at the shelter I think he has a home with us. I'm so smitten. I haven't met him in person but that's because I probably wouldn't be able to leave him at the shelter, and then I would be in trouble. I would rename him Baron Von Cheeseburger, in case you were wondering. He's at the Vancouver Animal Control Shelter, and you can see his page here.

Concordia

I'm not sure if I told you about the Concordia pop-up shop. It will be in the On Que building at 196 Kingsway (and Broadway) in Vancouver during the month of June. Some honeywild sterling silver charm necklaces and chandelier and filigree earrings will be there for your shopping delight! A few of the earrings are shown here, and most of the necklaces can be seen in my Etsy shop and have been marked for Concordia. I can't wait to see it next week! Hope you get a chance to check it out if you live in the Vancouver area, it should be stocked with lots of locally made goodies :)

Weekend part 1

This weekend was pretty busy too! We fit in lots of awesome. On Friday Ben gave me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, just cause.

I LOVE them. Sorry, those are the best photos I could get.

I took apart some donated jewelry which will be given new life in honeywild pieces (I take old jewelry apart and clean the beads so they can be used in new creations - more info under the tab up top, "recycle your jewels"). Here are some beads from the first few bracelets I killed ;)

Ben went to see the Whitecaps soccer game for his friend's birthday on Saturday and when I picked him up we decided to go out for dinner. I had a coupon for a restaurant called Eight 1/2 just off Main st at 151 East 8th Avenue. It sounded really cool - here is their blurb/mandate:
"eight ½ restaurant lounge is based on the principle that what goes in to our bodies should be simple, fresh and local. We pride ourselves on having a kitchen that has no need for a deep fryer or microwave, keeping our dishes and drinks healthy and fresh every time."
It was delicious! It's quite small and there was a large bachelor party there taking up a bunch of tables so we sat at the bar. We ordered the baked brie [filo wrapped brie, local buckwheat honey, sweet chili, candied apple slices] to start (sooo tasty) and then shared the mushroom risotto [a seasonal mix of fresh BC mushrooms, pine nuts, and baby spinach topped with white truffle oil and shaved Parmesan] which OH my my. So very delicious!! It was great and we'd definitely go back.

So that was the first half of the weekend. Sunday was super fun as well and I'll try to blog about it tomorrow :)

What shenanigans did you get up to this weekend?
