Thanks to sales of specific items at my winter markets this year we raised $20 to donate to both SAINTS and HomeFinders animal rescues ($20 to each charity). This makes me happy! Here is a blurb about each charity:

"SAINTS is an end-of-life sanctuary for senior and special needs animals that have nowhere else to go. We provide a special place to be loved, cherished, and receive proper medical care for the rest of their days. All animals deserve to have hope for a better tomorrow." Check out their website here.

Thanks to everyone who shopped honeywild this season! These rescues do awesome work and I am grateful to be able to help them out. I plan on putting some items that include donations in the online shop soon, I just need time & good lighting! :)

Take me home AKA save my relationship

This ADORABLE wee thing is Dory Kalamazoo (yup!). She is a tiny siamese cat and about a year old. I fell in love with her instantly when I saw her photo online. We can have one more cat where we live right now (our last allowable pet here) but due to our adopted Maggie cat really coming out of her shell the recently (which is great! she's just a lot of cat haha) and a large vet bill for Josie's teeth which wiped out our emergency vet savings, we don't think it's a good time to add to the household. Or at least my sensible side and Ben don't think so. The mooshy, animal loving, tiny siamese adoring part of me wants to drive over to HomeFinders right now in the rain and take her home! I mean come on! How can you not? To make it even worse (for my weak self-restraint) she is reportedly a complete darling and ok with dogs and cats. The only catch is she has some allergies so needs a restricted diet (run of the mill in my household!). So please. Someone go adopt her, so I stop stalking her Petfinder profile, mooning over her and driving Ben crazy with "hypothetical" questions about getting another cat. I'm sure you won't regret it, she's a prize.

Take Me Home

These beauties are all looking for their forever homes. From the top, all-black Noodle is a sweet, affectionate girl who is great with other cats. Exotic-looking black and white Sirayana is a quirky, friendly girl who is good with other cats and cat-savvy dogs. Gorgeous grey tabby Atreyu is sweet and gentle. She is a purring machine and LOVES rubs and her brush! She pushes her face into her brush and goes on her tippy toes or stands up to get closer to rubs :)

New Addition

I have a few things I need to take the time to sit down and share soon but I've been a bit all over the place lately! So until then I felt I needed to at least share our newest addition with you! We've adopted a kitty! Maggie is about 9 years old and wasn't getting along with the resident blue heeler at her last home. He was a bit intense. She's been fine with other dogs though, so we hope we'll all be able to get along here! We only got her last night and she's still pretty into hiding so I don't have a very good photo of her.

Here she is snuggled in a corner beside a chest of drawers & behind things I have yet to find a home for (I realllly need some shelving in my office/workspace asap!). She won't come out during the day yet but she let me give her rubs & scratches and gave me a nice healthy purrrr :) She's super soft and fluffier than a regular short-hair cat. She has sweet little white paws and big gorgeous eyes. I can't wait for her to get more comfortable here and really show herself! :)

I've got her in my room upstairs and have blocked off the last set of stairs up so the dogs can't go make a huge fuss at the door. They still make a fuss down below when I go up there, but whatcha gonna do. Hopefully I'll have a better photo to share soon!

Adopt-a-Less-Adoptable-Pet Week - The Cats

Blanket ID

The girls have new ID tags! I thought we had some photos that showed the new tags better, but Ben took the photos and I didn't check them until later. They are from Blanket ID: rather than having your personal info on the tag, Blanket ID's tags have their website and an ID number on the back. You register your tag online and enter your info, which is super simple to do. Whoever finds your pet can go online and enter the code from the tag and get all pertinent info on you & your dog. As well as contact info you can include things such as medical issues and food allergies. You can also update your info whenever you want, which is great if you want to travel with your pet. You could change the info to the hotel you're staying at, for example. The really cool thing about this service is that when you mark your pet as lost on the Blanket ID site, your pet's info and photo is sent to local shelters, vets and local Blanket members. Pretty great! Also, the tags are really cute, and the clips you can order along with them to make switching tags from collar to collar are really great. I bought a different one for Josie awhile back but it was terrible and fell off her collar shortly after I attached it. These ones are small but very strong and won't be going anywhere. They've been on for at least a week on both dogs with no problems. I still have tags on both girls with our phone numbers so there's an easy way to get a hold of us if the finder weren't near a computer (or computer literate :) ).

The Cheshire Cat!

Here's another I'd love to give a home. Oliver is a gorgeous Exotic Shorthair from Salt Lake City, Utah and he looks JUST like the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland! How can I resist?! His Petfinder page is here.

My new best friend?!

I am SO IN LOVE with this kitty!! San Diego ain't so far! I'm having trouble convincing Ben that having another furry one in this small space is a good idea, haha. And that Penny wouldn't get herself into trouble with a feline right now. He's an 11 year old purebred Scottish Fold: you can find his Petfinder page here. I want to re-name him Burgers. I think Ben is warming to it!

Stellllaaaaa!

Here's another cutie I fell in love with the other night. She's a bengal named Stella and one of her ears is smaller than the other!! I would love to take her home as well. I wish I had a farm and could take in all the furbabies I wanted. Sigh. Anyhow, she is from The Dalles, Oregon and you can see her page on Petfinder here!
