Glam mom life

When you got your pants wet while sitting on the corner of the tub to watch your little so changed in your pjs because you're home for the night, but then the dogs start whining to go out and hubby is putting the little to bed... Out you go in your donut pants and his hoody :p

Peekaboo!

Well I've been absent for a rather long time! I've been busy, as you can see - I made a tiny human! How crazy is that?! I've also done a big move.
I hope to be revamping this spot soon... Stick around 😘

Wrap bracelets

I will be adding a few new bracelets to the shop very soon (FINALLY), including the one pictured above. Isn't the brass skull awesome?! Unfortunately the shop (and this blog, among other things) suffered the past few months while I was busy with planning my wedding and starting a new job! I am now doing ABA therapy with kids with autism and I love it :)

Did you notice the blog got a facelift? What do you think? More changes to come but it's a start. I also made a new site for my jewelry - check it out and let me know what you think!

That's all for now. More soon, hopefully :)
xo.

All my love...

And the worst blogger award goes to... me. I keep meaning to post here and I never quite make it there. I'm sorry. I will try to be better.

Did I tell you I'm getting married this summer?

Headached

{ Frazey Ford }

My day off has certainly not been going as planned. I'm trying to tame my headache with a huge latte and Frazey Ford's album Obadiah. Check it out, you won't regret it.

Apologies for my very sporadic updates here and in the shops. Life can be overwhelming. I'm working to even things out.

Lately

I needed a boost to get going today, and Tegan & Sara's first album was good therapy, singing along, if nothing else.

I have trouble deciding what to share here, which is partly why I sometimes disappear from my blog. I don't want this to be a place for whining, and sometimes I'm not sure how to be more constructive than that, so I just don't post anything. But maybe it's ok to be real every now & then :)
I've been struggling lately with my RA, my job, what I want to do with my life.

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

This line from Mary Oliver was the tagline for a course I took part in a couple years ago and it's really stuck with me. You never know how much time you have and so I am trying to live the life I want to live every day. I try to make an impact for causes I care deeply about, I try to spend my time, working or otherwise, doing things I enjoy. We spend too much of our lives at work to do things we don't like, or to work with people whose company we don't enjoy. But I feel kind of stuck at a crossroads right now. I feel restricted in terms of work by my RA (makes it hard to, say, do admin work because too much typing and similar activities really take a toll on my fingers/hands), lack of appropriate schooling or experience for certain jobs I'm interested in, at least for the short-term. I don't really want to go back to school right now - if there was a specific job I really thought I'd enjoy then I would be more inclined to it, but I haven't figured that out yet. Ben and I have also been talking about getting married in the next year or so and having a baby, and I feel like it would be kind of a waste to go to school for a job that I'll only be at for a year or so before potentially going on mat leave, especially as I think I'll probably stay home for the first few years... But, I'm getting burnt out at my current job at the natural pet supply store. I like it there, and like my co-workers, but our days are 9 hours long, and now that we moved to Port Moody, my commute is about 45 minutes both ways. So, by the time I get home we eat dinner, maybe watch a TV show or chat a bit, then go to bed. I never have energy to do much else when I get home. I am feeling tired and uninspired. I have things I want to get done on my days off but I can never motivate myself to get out of bed at a reasonable time, which bothers me. When I finally get up I feel I've wasted precious hours, and honestly I then end up sitting at the computer and wasting more. I don't know what to do! I am not really expecting a solution, just needed to vent I guess :)

What do you do when you are feeling burnt out, when you need a boost, when you are looking for inspiration?

Happy Space

This is a peek into my "office," where I make jewelry (and many messes), write letters and listen to music really loud and sometimes sing along (quite often to Roxette but I've also been listening to Bon Iver, Ben Howard and First Aid Kit lately, among others). The room is filled with cat toys (it's Maggie's sanctuary with no dog access), vintage finds, bowls of beads and piles of stuff that I don't yet have shelving or storage for. The walls are a peachy pink and I have a comfy rocking chair waiting for the cushions to be recovered with some awesome thrifted fabric I found so that it can become my reading sanctuary!

The lighting is really bad up there right now so it's hard to get good photos. When there's more shelving and better lighting I'll take some new photos. I couldn't share photos of the surface of my desk as it's a DISASTER. Under everything I'm quite organized, but new supplies and projects always start to sprawl over everything. I always mean to be more organized, but it never lasts very long when it happens. I also have a tendency to forget about things when they're out of sight, which can be bad when I told someone I'd fix their bracelet then forget it exists, or something like that. I need an organization guru to come do an overhall, and then to check in on me and make me stick to it, haha.

Crafters, how do you work? Is your space clean and orderly, or do you have supplies and projects all over the place?

Emergency!

Well, ok, not quite an emergency, but a small, mini mental money crisis. My best girl Josephine (how can you resist that face?) has broken a tooth, the little stinker, and it is costing oh so very much to fix! I have money set aside for vet emergencies, but this is wiping it clean and I had to do some last minute fancy banking in order to be able to pay the bill later today. If you'd like to lend a hand, or would just like a good deal, then I have the answer my friend! I'm having a sale in my jewelry shop right now - use the coupon code "RUHROH" (without quotation marks) at checkout to get 25% off your whole (honeywild) purchase!

I'm not able to offer a discount in my vintage shop, but if you make a purchase there and mention the code "RUHROH" in the notes to seller I'll send you a wish bracelet as a bonus/thank you!  If you feel inclined to share this post, or re-tweet my sale tweet, my little family would really appreciate it! I'm also adding a Paypal donation button to the right >>> if you'd like to send 2 bits our way :)

Meet Bessie

My mom bought me an awesome new toy for our housewarming! I'm a bit late in posting this, I know :) I wanted one of these babies but really did not expect to get one before I got married or something! I have named her Bessie and we are going to make some yummy things together. Ben took photos of the first time I used her, making cookies. Also featuring some cute beggar dogs.

Leaving Landsmeer

I have so many photos to share from Amsterdam, it's a bit overwhelming! Until I get a start on them you can check out my Instagram, I've been uploading a lot there! I'm _honeywild . I'd give you a link but I can't seem to get one on my tablet.

This photo is me sitting at the biggest and nicest Starbucks I think I've ever been in, at Rembrandtplein, Amsterdam.

We fly home tomorrow! It's been great but I'm ready to go home.

Xo.

Bits and pieces, Istanbul pt 2

Amazing underground cistern (unfortunately poor photograph), peppers at the spice market, amazing floor in the Aiya Sophia mosque, our favourite jewelry & carpet shop, beautiful instruments, Turkish coffee at the Orient Express, the sweetest tiniest kitty I wanted to take with me, cool graffitti, poor sad fat street dog (too many bread-y handouts?)

Gorgeous sights, Istanbul pt 2

Sorry, I'm using the blogger app on my tablet and it turns some photos on their side and I can't figure out how to fix it :s

Can't remember if that's the Aiya Sophia mosque or the Blue mosque (looks like a fairytale), gold leaf inside a fountain gift from Germany, Orient Express station cafe, bookworm kitty.
