Back carry with pre-tied chest belt

Hilariously uneven tails. This was our first try on our own and second try at this carry, so oh well. But look, baby toes 💗

I'm sure it has a more technical name than that but that's what the YouTube video is called so that's all I know. I have been lazy/chicken to wrap bug on my back. I wanted to have someone show me to get started, but when I did get help at a babywearing meetup they showed me double hammock which I found really tricky to start with. I didn't feel like I got as much hands-on help as I needed, and I was scared of her falling as we were on a bare concrete floor and no-one really spotted me. So once I got her up I was stressed, sweaty, a mess, and decided I was done with back carries for the day. And then didn't try again for a couple months (oops).

Our first back carry in a beautiful Kokoro wrap. I forgot to pull up the chest pass and no-one corrected me 😂

We went to visit a local mama to try out her Pavo Fable wrap recently and she was kind enough to show me this back carry which starts on your front. I was much more comfortable starting bug on my front and scooting her around and this was much easier/quicker than double hammock. It's our new carry to master. Ok, fine, to get proficient at. Let's be real. 

I didn't play with Fable as much as I meant to (the mama was kind enough to loan it to us!) but I found it supportive and it really stayed in place. It's a fan favourite for a reason!

When you got your pants wet while sitting on the corner of the tub to watch your little so changed in your pjs because you're home for the night, but then the dogs start whining to go out and hubby is putting the little to bed... Out you go in your donut pants and his hoody :p

Well I've been absent for a rather long time! I've been busy, as you can see - I made a tiny human! How crazy is that?! I've also done a big move.

Wrap bracelets

I will be adding a few new bracelets to the shop very soon (FINALLY), including the one pictured above. Isn't the brass skull awesome?! Unfortunately the shop (and this blog, among other things) suffered the past few months while I was busy with planning my wedding and starting a new job! I am now doing ABA therapy with kids with autism and I love it :)

Did you notice the blog got a facelift? What do you think? More changes to come but it's a start. I also made a new site for my jewelry - check it out and let me know what you think!

Pop-Up Shop Last Days!

Saturday, March 30 is our last day at 4570 Main street!
I meant to post this earlier but I have not been able to keep up with wedding planning (which um, I think I forgot to post about here?! OOPS. I will try to update you on that sitch soon ;) ), day job work and being at the pop-up shop! I will be there all day on Friday & Saturday and will be having a SALE on Saturday! I will be offering a discount on all my regular priced jewelry, probably 15% off. Make sure to drop by to see me before it's all over and get a deal on some fun jewels for spring & summer! I am going away for the first two weeks of April but when I am back I will have a lot more free time (yesss) and will be working on new stuff to be filling the online shop, and bringing new pieces to Dream. I CAN'T WAIT! Also can't wait for my vacation though: I'm coming for you, Hawaii!! I've never been and there is no better time for a vacation than now!

As for the pop-up shop space, it will be undergoing a transformation (hello much-needed paint!) and will re-open sometime in April with new vendors! So if Main street is your hood, be sure to pop in again and see what's new.

Emergency!

Well, ok, not quite an emergency, but a small, mini mental money crisis. My best girl Josephine (how can you resist that face?) has broken a tooth, the little stinker, and it is costing oh so very much to fix! Meet Bessie

My mom bought me an awesome new toy for our housewarming! I'm a bit late in posting this, I know :) I wanted one of these babies but really did not expect to get one before I got married or something! I have named her Bessie and we are going to make some yummy things together. Ben took photos of the first time I used her, making cookies. Also featuring some cute beggar dogs.

Handmade Joy Exchange

I recently took part in a swap organized by Anne of My Giant Strawberry. It was a "handmade joy exchange" where everyone made something for someone else. I had so much fun putting together my package for Judy of Harfelt Fabric Art,

and loved opening my sparkly package from Vixie of Matin Lapin!

I also love that name - morning rabbit - so sweet!

I made Judy's earrings with vintage silver bows I'd just bought and peach aventurine faceted semi-precious stone beads. I also sent her a peachy flower petal button I'd made and enjoyed making her package beautiful with a big bloom on the front, cute notepaper etc :) You can read more about the exchange and see photos of other handmade joy pieces and packages on Anne's blog here!
